I love when the seasons change, especially from summer to fall. It’s deliciously cozy and weirdly thrilling. For some, it’s the start of a new school year, for others it’s the end of a business quarter, and for everyone, it ushers in the season of…the pumpkin.
Last year, I carved a pumpkin for the first time in ages. Like I remembered, it was full of messy, chaotic fun. It starts out easy enough—decide on a design, outline the face, and then 20 minutes later, your arm is stuck in a pumpkin, seeds are plastered to every surface, and you are ready to be done with the whole ordeal. The pickle is, the only way forward is through the hot mess.
Funny enough, this is exactly what operators do best. Most projects we work on is like a can of worms. For every problem you solve, there are five other layers to untangle. The difference is, this is what drives us to do our best work and come up with solutions we didn’t even know were possible.
This is also the trait that helped me walk away with a spiffy jack-o'-lantern that made the fall magic come to life. Mic. Drop.
